Deconstructed Apple Pie in a Jar

Ingredients

For the apple filling:

  • 6 cups (about 6–7) large apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp cold water (slurry)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
     

For the crumble:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
 
For the whipped cream:

Directions

  1. Prepare the apples:
  2. In a large pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add both sugars, cinnamon, and nutmeg, stirring until combined.
  3. Add apples and cook for about 10 minutes, until softened.
  4. Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook for another 2 minutes, until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.

  5. Make the crumble:
  6. In a bowl, mix flour, both sugars, and vanilla.
  7. Pour in melted butter and stir until large crumbles form.
  8. Spread on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake at 350°F for 10 minutes, or until golden brown.

  9. Whip the cream:
  10. In a chilled bowl, whip Baxter 35% Whipping Cream with sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.

  11. Assemble the jars:
  12. Start with a spoonful of crumble at the bottom of each jar.
  13. Add a layer of whipped cream, then a layer of apples.
  14. Repeat until jars are full. Finish with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of crumble on top.
